At the coming Seanad Election, I will be running as an Independent for a seat on the National University of Ireland Panel. I am running because I want to improve policy debate in Ireland. I believe I can do this. I am one of the few people in Ireland trained at predicting the economic effects of legislation and I am certain we need this in Irish politics.
This means evidence-based decision-making. It means looking at the data before we introduce a bill. It means determining how each legislative change will affect the lives of citizens. It means designing laws so our collective welfare is maximised. This is not just about economic issues, but about everyday life. As the role of Seanad Éireann is to analyse legislation, it is the ideal place in which to apply this skill.
If you can vote in the NUI election, I would be thrilled to have your first preference. If you cannot vote, but if you believe we need better legislators, I would be grateful if you would share my articles and ideas and speak to your friends about me. I am confident I can bring energy and ideas to Leinster House. With your support and faith we can make this a reality.
To check if you are on the Seanad electoral register, or to update your address, send an email to email@example.com with the following details: name, registered address, current address, date of birth, NUI degree attained, and year of graduation.
Ballots will be posted on March 21 and are due for return by April 26.
I am progressive about my views on the economy and society. Here are 9 issues I consider important.
If elected I will work to highlight these issues and introduce legislation where possible. Under the policy section of this site you can see numerous articles and videos where I set out my position on a range of issues. You can redirect here.
